The dial carries applied markers, a framed date at 3 o'clock, and the IWC Schaffhausen signature in a clean sans serif.
Where fakes break down
The inner bezel
On the real watch the inner bezel moves with tension and fine detents. On almost every fake it either spins free with no clicks or drags against the crystal. Unscrew the crown at 2 and test it. The genuine crown threads cleanly and the bezel tracks the crown one to one.
Dial and date
Replica dials print thick and slightly fuzzy under a loupe. The strongest tell is the date window. Genuine IWC frames it with a polished chamfer, while fakes skip the frame or leave a stamped edge that catches light the wrong way. Check the markers at 6 and 9 as well, since applied markers on a fake often sit a hair off center from their feet.
Case, crowns and caseback

- Work both crowns. They should thread smoothly and seat flush against the case.
- Compare the asking price against the going rate for a genuine IW329101. If it sits near a tenth of market value, you already have your answer.
