Short answer
A replica Rolex Submariner 41 copies the 41mm case shape Rolex launched in 2020. The genuine refs are 124060 with no date and 126610LN with a date. Replicas target the same case diameter, dial layout, bezel insert, and bracelet style. They do not match the movement, the alloy, or the 300m water rating. Prices run from about $150 to $900, set by the movement and the case finish.
Genuine specs to compare against
- Case: 41mm diameter, 21mm lug width
- Water resistance: 300m
- Movement: calibre 3230 (124060) or calibre 3235 (126610LN)
- Power reserve: 70 hours
- Bracelet: Oyster with Glidelock clasp
- Bezel: unidirectional, black ceramic
Rolex does not publish case thickness. Measured genuine examples sit near 12.4mm.
Case and bracelet on replicas
Replica diameters land between 40.8mm and 41.6mm. Thickness runs 12.5mm to 13.5mm. The extra height comes from a case back and a movement spacer that hold a small movement inside a larger shell.
Bracelets are 316L stainless steel on most builds. Some sellers advertise 904L, the alloy Rolex sells as Oystersteel. 904L is hard to confirm without lab testing, so 316L is the fair assumption. Clasp action, end link fit, and crown threads are the three places where cheap builds show gaps.
Movement tiers
- DG2813: 21,600 vph, coarse sweep, lowest price.
- A2824 and ST2130 (ETA 2824 clones): 28,800 vph, about 38 hours of reserve, date quickset.
- SH3235 and VR3235 (calibre 3235 clones): 28,800 vph, decorated bridges, 40 to 70 hours of reserve depending on the batch.
Genuine calibres use a free-sprung balance and a paramagnetic escapement. The clones do not copy that design. Timekeeping out of the box falls between -20 and +30 seconds a day. A watchmaker can regulate most of them.
Water resistance
Replica factories do not pressure-test to ISO 6425 or ISO 22810. Gaskets may be present but sit dry. Treat a replica as splash resistant at most. Do not swim or dive with one unless a watchmaker swaps the gaskets and tests the case.
Finishing checks before you buy
- Rehaut engraving: letters line up with the minute markers.
- Bezel click: 120 positions, firm, with no back play.
- Date wheel: font matches the dial print.
- Crown action: smooth threads, no grit.
- Lume: even on hands and markers, no bubbles.
