Short answer
Rolex does not list a Daytona with reference number 126511. The Daytona references published for the current line are 126500LN, 126506, 126508 and 126509. A listing that says "126511" points to something else: an aftermarket build, or a counterfeit watch styled after a gold Daytona. Rolex's published catalogs do not list that number.
The Daytona references that exist
- 126500LN: Oystersteel case, Cerachrom tachymeter bezel, black or white dial. Launched in 2023, the model's 60th year.
- 126506: platinum case, ice blue dial, sapphire case back.
- 126508: 18k yellow gold case and bracelet.
- 126509: 18k white gold case and bracelet.
All four run calibre 4131. Rolex lists a power reserve near 72 hours and a rate tolerance of -2/+2 seconds per day after casing. Case diameter is 40 mm. The 126500LN list price sits above $15,000 in the US. Secondary prices for steel Daytona models have run above list since 2016.
What "replica Daytona" means
A replica Daytona is a watch that carries Rolex marks without permission. Those marks include the coronet on the dial, the word Rolex, the Oyster Perpetual line, and the Daytona name. The movement inside is a third-party calibre, often a Chinese or Japanese automatic. Case metal is plated brass or 316L steel. Gold replicas use gold plating, not solid gold.
US law on counterfeit watches
18 U.S.C. Section 2320 makes trafficking in counterfeit goods a federal crime. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a $2,000,000 fine for an individual. 19 U.S.C. Section 1526 lets US Customs and Border Protection seize and destroy counterfeit goods at the border. Civil claims under 15 U.S.C. Section 1114 let the trademark owner recover damages and attorney fees. Personal use is not the same as resale, but imported counterfeit goods remain subject to seizure.
How to check a reference number
- Look up the number in Rolex's own catalog. If the number is absent, treat it as unofficial.
- Compare case size, dial text and bezel material against the published spec.
- Ask for the warranty card and serial. Counterfeit sellers omit these or supply copies.
- Get an inspection from an independent watchmaker before money changes hands.
