A replica IW545109 is an unauthorized copy of the IWC Portuguese reference IW545109. The reference number is the starting point. Check the case size, dial layout, crown position, caseback markings, and movement type against IWC published details before you judge the copy. Seller photos and claims do not replace a reference check.

What the Reference Tells You

IWC reference numbers identify a model family and a specific configuration. For IW545109, confirm the case diameter, lug width, dial color, strap type, and winding system. A replica that misses the case size or dial text is a poor copy even if the finish looks clean in a low-resolution photo.

Prerequisites

  • Write down the exact reference: IW545109.
  • Find IWC published specs for case size, dial, and movement.
  • Check your local import and possession rules before payment.
  • Set a return window and get it in writing.

Inspection Procedure

  1. Ask the seller for the reference number in writing.
  2. Measure the case diameter and lug width with calipers.
  3. Compare the dial layout to a verified photo of IW545109.
  4. Use a loupe to check logo print, minute track, and subdial text.
  5. Check hand alignment at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock.
  6. Wind or set the watch and note crown feel and date change.
  7. Inspect caseback engraving depth, font, and reference placement.
  8. Listen to the movement at rest and while winding.
  9. Photograph the watch under daylight before you remove tags.
  10. Confirm return terms in writing before you wear it.

Red Flags

  • Seller avoids a straight-on dial photo.
  • Case size is off by more than 1 mm.
  • Dial text is blurry, uneven, or wrong for the reference.
  • Caseback engraving is shallow or uses a generic layout.
  • Movement sounds rough or the crown binds.
  • Price is far below the normal replica tier with no explanation.

Legal and Resale Limits

In the United States, a replica watch is a counterfeit good. Import and sale can lead to seizure and trademark claims. Carry that risk into any resale plan. A replica IW545109 may look close to the original, but it is not an IWC product and it has no IWC warranty or service support.
