Advice first: pick the parts, not the label
Replica Cartier prices run from about $50 to $900. The number tracks four parts: case metal, crystal, movement and gold plating. Sellers sort stock into tiers with names like "AAA" or "1:1". Those names have no shared standard across sellers. Ask for the part list and a photo of the actual watch.
Context helps. Cartier lists steel Santos and Tank models above $6,000. A $200 replica is a different object, not a discount on that watch. Judge it on its own parts.
Price tiers and what sits inside them
- $50 to $120. Zinc alloy case. Mineral glass. Quartz movement. Folded bracelet links. Gold tone from flash plating.
- $150 to $300. 316L steel case on most listings. Mineral glass or low-grade sapphire. Seiko NH35 automatic or Miyota quartz. Solid links with push pins.
- $350 to $600. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Miyota 9015 or a clone of the ETA 2824. Screw-in bracelet links. Plating quoted at 5 to 10 microns on gold-tone models.
- $650 to $900. Swiss ETA or Sellita movement in some builds. Better dial printing and hand finishing. Caseback engraving closer to the reference.
These bands come from seller listings, not a published index. Expect overlap between them.
Replica Cartier Watch Price Guide: What You Need to Know
Parameters to confirm in writing
- Case metal. Ask for 316L steel. Alloy cases pit and weigh less.
- Crystal. Sapphire resists scratches. Mineral glass picks up marks in weeks.
- Movement. Ask for the calibre name and a rate check. NH35 and Miyota 9015 have published specs.
- Plating thickness. Ask for microns. Anything under 3 microns wears through at the clasp and crown.
- Water resistance. A 3ATM stamp on a case with no gasket test means splash resistance at best.
- Bracelet and clasp. Solid links, screws rather than push pins, signed clasp.
- Dial details. Roman numeral weight, the hidden signature, hand shape, cabochon material and color.
- Case size. Santos and Ballon Bleu come in several widths. Confirm millimeters against the reference number.
Cartier-specific checks
Santos screw slots should sit in line with the bezel edge. Ballon Bleu crown guards wrap the crown at a set curve. Tank cases taper along the flanks. The cabochon is glass on cheap builds, synthetic spinel or sapphire on better ones. Look at the color under daylight, not in a studio photo.
Pitfalls that cost money
- Stock photos of genuine watches. Ask for a dated photo of the unit you will receive.
- No pre-ship QC. A $20 inspection fee saves a $400 loss.
- Payment by methods with no dispute window.
- "Swiss made" printed on a case with a Chinese movement.
- Customs. Counterfeit goods are illegal to import, and CBP seizes shipments. You lose the watch and the money.
- No return policy and no movement warranty.
- Strap cost. Real leather or alligator-grain adds $30 to $80.
- Total landed cost. Shipping and insurance add 5 to 15 percent.
Ask for the landed total, the calibre, and the return window in one message. A seller who answers with part names is a better risk than one who answers with adjectives.
