The 124060 has wider crown guards and a wider bracelet than the 114060. A 40mm and a 41mm case look the same in a photo and different on a wrist. Measure the case diameter with a caliper across the back, clear of the crown guards.

Bezel and insert
Genuine inserts use Cerachrom, a ceramic disc, with numerals filled with platinum through a PVD process. Replica inserts use ceramic with platinum paint or gold plating. Check the pip at 12: its shape, its height and its line to the triangle. Turn the bezel and count. Genuine bezels index at about 120 clicks per full circle. Checks to run before you buy
- Measure the case at the lugs. 40.0mm for 114060, 41.0mm for 124060.
- Measure the lug width. 20mm for 114060, 21mm for 124060.
- Turn the bezel. Count the clicks. Check the pip at 12.
- Turn the crown. Genuine crowns move with light drag and no grit.
- Flip the watch. Look for SEL gaps at 12 and 6 and check the clasp code.
- Set the hands to noon. Check hand stack and alignment of the Mercedes hour hand to the 12 mark.
- Charge the lume under a lamp for 30 seconds. Blue is the target color.
- Wind it full and leave it 40 hours. If it stops at 20, the movement needs work.
Movement and service
Most builds use an Asia 2824 type or a clone 3130. Both beat at 28,800 vph (4Hz). A clone 3130 runs about 40 to 48 hours on a full wind. An Asia 2824 runs about 38 hours. Genuine calibre 3130 runs 48 hours and calibre 3230 runs 70 hours. A 21,600 vph movement in a No Date Sub is wrong for this ref. Service from an independent watchmaker runs $80 to $150 for a clean and oil. Parts come from donor movements, so a full swap is common.
Water resistance
Factories do not publish test data. Gaskets may sit dry and crown threads may be rough. A pressure test at a local shop costs about $20 to $40. Do not swim with a replica until it passes a test.
Legal note for US buyers
