The modern line keeps the shape: an oval case, the crown pushed off to roughly the 4 o'clock position, and a dial sitting low in the frame.

The 8999 is the small end of that family. On the wrist it reads closer to a bracelet than a watch. Inside sits a self-winding Breguet calibre with the finishing you expect at this level: chamfered bridges, Geneva stripes on the rotor, blued screws.
