The short answer
There is no such thing as a convincing Lange 1 platinum replica. The real watch is a 38.5 mm hand-wound piece with an in-house movement, a case cut from solid Pt950, and a balance cock engraved by hand. Why the Lange 1 resists copying
A. Lange & Söhne builds the Lange 1 around the outsize date: two separate apertures, each on its own disc, driven by a mechanism that jumps over at midnight. Fakes usually approximate this with a single disc, or with a printed date ring whose numerals sit at the wrong height inside the window. The asymmetry of the dial is the second problem. Off-centre main dial, small seconds low, power reserve high. Get an angle or a radius wrong by half a millimetre and the whole thing reads as off, even to someone who has only seen photos.
The movement is the harder part. A real Lange 1 runs a hand-wound calibre with a three-quarter plate in untreated German silver, gold chatons, blued screws, and a balance cock engraved freehand, so no two are identical. Copy engraving is stamped or laser-cut, and it looks flat under a loupe. Add the bridge finish and the jewel positions, and the gap is obvious once the caseback comes off.

- Hands. Blued steel, correct length and shape, no painted-on blue.
- Caseback. Sapphire with the movement visible, crisp engraving, the precious metal stamp where the case should carry it.
- Text and spacing. Logo, model name, country of origin. Wrong kerning shows at arm's length.
What "platinum" means in a replica listing
It usually means one of three things: steel with a platinum-tone plating, the colour rather than the metal, or a tungsten alloy chosen because tungsten is dense, about 19.25 g/cm³, and can fake weight. None of those is platinum, none can legally carry a Pt950 stamp, and none behaves the same at a jeweller's bench.
