Short answer
Reference 206.025 does not match any Lange 1 entry in the factory catalog or in the major auction archives. Lange 1 references run in the 101.xxx, 113.xxx, 115.xxx, 117.xxx, and 191.xxx families. A watch sold as a "Lange 1 206.025" is a replica, and the number came from the seller, not from A. Lange & Söhne. Treat the digits as a listing code, not as a model identity.
What a real Lange 1 uses
- Case diameter 38.5 mm on the current model. Earlier examples from the 1990s measure the same.
- Dial layout: time at 9, outsize date at 1, power reserve at 3, small seconds at 5.
- Outsize date runs on two separate discs, one per digit, with a visible split between them.
- Power reserve scale reads AUF and AB, the German words for up and down.
- Movement is hand wound, with a 3/4 plate in untreated German silver, a hand-engraved balance cock, and screwed gold chatons.
- Caliber L121.1 runs 72 hours on a full wind.

Date
The outsize date is the hardest part to copy. Real watches use two discs that jump at midnight. Most copies print one disc, or draw a line down the middle of a single window. Compare the numeral height against the dial edge. On a real Lange 1 the digits are large and reach close to the printed ring.
Power reserve
Wind the watch and watch the reserve hand. A real hand moves from AB toward AUF. On many copies the hand sits in one spot, or the scale is printed flat on the dial with no moving pointer.
Movement
The Lange 1 is hand wound. A rotor under the caseback means the watch does not copy the Lange 1 movement at all. Common bases in replicas are the Seagull ST17 and the Miyota 9015. Decoration is a stamped plate over a stock movement. Engraving on the balance cock is machine cut, not freehand.
Case and dial
Real dials are solid silver. Copies use brass with paint. Check the printed minute track under a loupe. Real tracks are thin and sharp. Copy tracks show ink spread and uneven spacing at the markers.
Reference engraving
Casebacks carry the reference number, often between the lugs. On a replica the digits sit off center and the font weight is wrong. Compare the engraving against the caliber number beside it.
Price range
Replica Lange 1 watches sell from about $70 to $400, based on the base movement and the case finish. Used genuine Lange 1 watches trade in the tens of thousands of dollars. A seller asking four figures for a watch marked 206.025 is selling a high-end fake, not a Lange.
