Genuine dials have applied indices with clean edges and level lume. Copies show printed indices, thick paint, misaligned subdials, and hands with rough tips. Hold the watch at an angle. Print that fades or shifts under light points to a copy.
Price tells
A genuine watch in this family trades in the tens of thousands of USD at auction. Offers between USD 200 and USD 900 are counterfeits. No wholesale channel sells genuine IWC tourbillons at those numbers.
Paperwork and box
IWC ships a warranty card, a manual, and a box with matching reference and case number. Check the print quality of the card and the serial. Sellers who show the watch but not the card are a risk.

- Pay an independent watchmaker for an inspection. The fee runs USD 100 to USD 300.
- Walk away from sellers who refuse an inspection or a payment hold.
