A fake Ingenieur 41mm V3 is a replica of the IWC Ingenieur sold with a case listed at 41mm and a version tag of V3. The V3 tag comes from the seller, not from IWC. It marks a third batch of a factory build. It is not a model number, and no factory registry exists. Two sellers can use the same tag for two different watches.
What the V3 label covers
Replica factories update builds in batches. V1 is the first release. V2 changes one or two parts, most often the dial print or the date wheel. V3 is the third update. Changes between V2 and V3 are small: a new clasp, a thinner case back, a re-cut bezel. Ask the seller for the change list and a photo of the part that changed. If the seller cannot name the change, the tag carries no weight.
Case and size
The genuine IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40, reference IW3289, measures 40mm across and 10.8mm thick. Listings that say 41mm measure the case at a point that includes the bezel edge or the crown guards. Most replica Ingenieur cases run 41mm to 42mm wide and 12mm to 13mm thick. Ask for a caliper photo of the case on a flat surface. A tape measure held on a wrist proves nothing.
Movement
The genuine watch runs IWC calibre 32111, a 4Hz automatic with a 120 hour power reserve. Replica Ingenieur watches use an Asian automatic movement, most often a copy of the ETA 2824 or the Miyota 9015. Power reserve on those movements lands between 38 and 42 hours.
