Short answer

Jaeger-LeCoultre never released an AMVOX 6. The AMVOX line ran from 2004 to about 2018 and used the numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7. No reference 6 exists in any year. A watch listed as a fake AMVOX 6 is either a copy of a model that was never built, or a replica of a real AMVOX reference sold under a wrong name.

The real AMVOX references

  • AMVOX1, 2004. 42 mm titanium case. Calibre 751. First model from the Aston Martin partnership.
  • AMVOX2 Chronograph, 2007. 44 mm. Vertical trigger. No pushers on the case.
  • AMVOX3 Tourbillon GMT, 2008. Limited run. Titanium and platinum cases.
  • AMVOX5 World Chronograph, 2010. 44 mm. World time ring on the dial.
  • AMVOX7 Chronograph, 2013. 44 mm titanium. Calibre 752.

Why the number 6 appears in listings

Some sellers use "AMVOX 6" as a loose label for any AMVOX-style chronograph. Others copy an AMVOX7 or AMVOX2 and add a number that sounds newer. JLC also built the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder, which held a small radio device for Aston Martin door locks. Replica makers skip that part.

Checkpoints on a fake

  1. Chronograph control. A real AMVOX2 has no pushers. The movement reacts to pressure on the crystal. Most replicas add two pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock.
  2. Caseback. Real watches carry a Q-prefixed reference number engraved on the back or between the lugs. Fakes show plain text or a blank back.
  3. Movement. Calibre 751 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 65-hour power reserve. Replica movements run at 21,600 vph and stop in about 36 hours. Look at the balance through a display back.
  4. Weight. Titanium weighs about 30 percent less than steel at the same volume. A "titanium" AMVOX that feels heavy is steel.
  5. Dial marking. Real dials print JAEGER-LECOULTRE with a hyphen. Fakes drop the hyphen or split the name.

Price as a test

Pre-owned AMVOX1 and AMVOX2 watches trade between about $5,000 and $12,000 on the secondary market. Tourbillon and limited pieces sit higher. Replica listings sit between $150 and $600. A seller who offers a "new AMVOX 6" for $300 is selling a copy of a discontinued line, not a Jaeger-LeCoultre.

What to ask a seller

Ask for the reference number on the caseback, a photo of the movement, and the service record. Ask if the watch comes with papers from Jaeger-LeCoultre. A real AMVOX has a documented reference. A fantasy model has none.
