Short answer
A fake AMVOX1 clone copies the dial and the case shape of the Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX1. It does not copy the movement or the control system. The real watch runs its chronograph from the sapphire crystal. A clone runs it from side pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. Check that first. One press on the crystal tells you more than 20 photos.
What the genuine AMVOX1 is
Jaeger-LeCoultre launched the AMVOX1 in 2004. It opened the partnership with Aston Martin that ran to 2021. The case is titanium, about 42 mm wide. The movement is Calibre 751, an automatic chronograph. JLC lists a power reserve near 65 hours. Documented references include 190.8.97. Ask a seller for the full reference and the serial number before you talk about price.
Three grades of clone
- Cosmetic copy. A stock steel chronograph case, a printed dial with AMVOX text, quartz or a low-grade automatic. Pushers at 2 and 4.
- Hybrid build. A real JLC case or caseback with an aftermarket dial, hands and date wheel. Collectors call this a franken watch.
- Close copy. Titanium-look case, engraved caseback with a copied serial, sapphire crystal. It still uses side pushers, because the crystal-press control is a Jaeger-LeCoultre design that copy shops have not reproduced.
Checks that work
- Press the crystal. On a genuine AMVOX1 the chronograph starts and stops. On a clone nothing happens.
- Look at the case side. A genuine AMVOX1 has no chronograph pushers at 2 and 4. That is the whole point of the design.
- Caseback. Check reference, serial and brand engraving depth. Copies use flat laser etching.
- Movement. Calibre 751 has a signed rotor and Geneva stripes. A generic 7750 or a Seagull ST19 does not.
- Dial text. Font weight and spacing on the AMVOX name. Copies print heavier and wider.
- Weight. Titanium is light. A steel clone is heavier in the hand.
Price and paperwork
Asking prices for a titanium AMVOX1 sit in the $5,000 to $9,000 band on the major marketplaces. Completed sales land under asking prices. A full service from Jaeger-LeCoultre runs into four figures in USD. A seller with no service record and no box and papers is selling an unknown watch. Treat it as one.

Legal position in the United States
Trafficking in counterfeit goods is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. Section 2320. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison. U.S. Customs and Border Protection can seize and destroy counterfeit watches at import. Selling a watch with a counterfeit mark also opens the seller to civil claims under the Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. Section 1114. Personal use is a different charge from trafficking, but the item can still be seized.

What a clone cannot do
Copy shops match dial printing and case finishing. They cannot match the crystal-press chronograph, the Calibre 751 finishing, or a service history from the maker. If a seller cannot show a service record or an extract from the archives, the watch stays unverified.
